Phnom Penh, Cambodia – August 17, 2024 – CamTech University, a pioneering institution in technology and science, today celebrated a significant milestone with the signing of a landmark funding agreement between the Touch Sonn Foundation and the University of Technology and Science of Cambodia (CamTech).
The program aims to empower talented students by providing opportunities for tertiary and postgraduate education, while also equipping them with cutting-edge skills in STEM majors. This strategic initiative aligns with the future market demand, enabling students to contribute to Cambodia’s economic growth and development.
Touch Samnang, Representative of the Touch Sonn Foundation’s family, shared the foundation’s vision: “Our late founder, Father Touch Sonn, believed that education is the greatest inheritance. He instilled in us the importance of empowering individuals and communities through quality education. Through this foundation, we aim to continue his legacy by providing access to quality education for students.”
The Touch Sonn Foundation has donated a substantial sum of US $300,000 to CamTech University to provide loans to students at low-interest rates. This marks the first major donation from the foundation to CamTech’s Endowment Fund, which was established to support student financial aid, academic programs, and infrastructure development.
Prof. Dr. Khieng Sothy, Founding President of CamTech University, expressed gratitude for the foundation’s support, stating that the funds received will enable the university to become more financially sustainable and increase enrollment rates, particularly among female students and those from remote areas.
