Ms. Sovanndanny Thaverry Khuth
Global Engagement Officer
Ms. Sovanndanny joined CamTech University in February 2026 as Global Engagement Officer. She has experience in international cooperation and STI policy, with previous roles at the United Nations and UNESCO.
Before joining CamTech, she interned at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in Geneva, where she supported the humanitarian disarmament framework. Her work focused on preparing policy and briefing documents, particularly on emerging technologies and the governance of artificial intelligence in armed conflict. She contributed to multilateral negotiations under the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, especially with the Group of Governmental Experts on Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems, and helped coordinate high-level meetings for Protocol II, Protocol V, the Arms Trade Treaty, the Convention on Cluster Munitions, and the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.
She also worked as a Consultant in the Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Section at UNESCO in Paris, following a six-month traineeship. She contributed to the 2021 UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science and helped organize international events on science diplomacy, gender equality in science, and open science monitoring.
Sovanndanny holds a dual master’s degree in Applied International Law and International Politics from Université de Sherbrooke and graduated Magna Cum Laude in International Affairs from Sciences Po Bordeaux. Her research examines disinformation in the Sahel, focusing on narrative patterns and their impact on geopolitical perceptions in unstable political environments.
