The idea of a university was the brainchild of Neak Oknha Dr Pung Kheav Se in 2018 to enable young talents to receive a high level of tertiary education.
The idea of a university was the brainchild of Neak Oknha Dr Pung Kheav Se in 2018 to enable young talents to receive a high level of tertiary education. The university was named the Cambodia University of Technology and Science (CamTech) and receives support from the Federation of Khmer-Chinese in Cambodia with an aim to cultivate Cambodian young professional talents in science and technology and enhance Cambodia’s economic development, with technical partnership with established and reputable universities in the Asian region. In return, CamTech will equip their students with academic and hands-on training, which will increase their employability and contribute to the development of Cambodia.
During the meeting with the Founder and the Representative of Tianjin University of Technology, HE Dr Hang Chuon Naron, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, expressed his full support to the project of CamTech University.
In March 2021, CamTech received the official approval from the Royal Government of Cambodia to operate with the establishment of five faculties: the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Business and Management, the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and the Faculty of Sustainable Built Environment.
Neak Oknha Pung Kheav Se Foundation
To contribute to the establishment of the university, Neak Oknha Pung Kheav Foundation (the Foundation) was founded. The Foundation has provided 5 hectares of land in Chroy Changva Satellite city as the campus of the CamTech University, and invested more than $3 million to build the campus with the main university building, state-of-the-art facilities, a garden and a canteen.
