Cambodia Student Visa Procedure

Visa Category: E-class (ES) Student Visa

Foreign students enrolled in Cambodian educational institutions must obtain an E-class (ordinary) Student Visa, often referred to as ES. This visa permits legal study and residence in Cambodia, with options for multiple extensions while the course is ongoing.

Duration & Extensions

Initial validity: 30 days (Apply for tourist E-visa)
Extension options: Inside Cambodia, you can extend it in increments of 1, 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on your study duration.

Application Requirements for Initial Visa

Applicants should prepare and submit the following:

Valid passport (min. 6 months validity).
Passport-sized photos. (White Background)
Letter of acceptance from CamTech or equivalent institution.
Proof of financial capability to support living and tuition.
Medical insurance documentation.

How to Apply

Visit the official eVisa website for Cambodia.
Click on "Apply for eVisa" and select "Tourism (ordinary)" as the purpose of your visit.
Fill out the application form with your personal information and upload the required documents, including your passport and a passport-style photo.
Pay the visa fee online using a credit card or PayPal.
Submit your application and wait for the approval notification via email.
Print out your eVisa and bring it with you to Cambodia along with your passport and other supporting documents.

Cost & Processing

Online visa (e-Visa): USD $35, valid for 30 days, single-entry, processed in ~3 business days.
In-country visa extensions (ES): additional fees apply—amounts may vary, but typical extension processing is through immigration services.

Extension

A 6-month visa extension fee in Cambodia generally costs around $160 to $170 USD when obtained through an agent for an "Extension Of Stay" (EOS), or it can be around $180 if applying directly to the Ministry, though fees are subject to change and may vary depending on your nationality and the specific E-type visa you hold.

A letter of recommendation from the host institution or lecturer
An official transcript from the host institution
A valid certificate of English language proficiency (IELTS = 5.5 or equivalent)
Current photo of 4 x 6 with a white background
A health certificate issued within the last 6 months
Passing the CamTech panel interview
